1890 to 1904


“In 1890, it became necessary to enlarge the building that housed the mentally ill, so with the opening of the East Moline State Hospital in 1898, the State assumed this responsibility. A brick infirmary 58 x 100 feet and four stories high was erected at a cost of $19,873.40 and was dedicated on February 2, 1904. The name was officially changed from the Poor Farm to Rock Island County Infirmary.
