In 1945, the Illinois Legislature enacted the Rennick-Laughlin bills whereby County governments could have eligible county homes approved as nursing homes. In July 1946, the Rock Island County Home was approved by the State and the name was officially changed from the Rock Island County Infirmary to the Rock Island County Convalescent Home.
